Top Gun's OMG was
born Wed. May 16, 2007. He is by Easy
Texas Cash out of
Top Gun's Good Girl. He is beyond
beautiful. I feel like God has given Top
Gun back to me. He is black with 4 white
stockings, a white star and a mostly
white tail. Those are cat tracks on his
legs. He has them on all 4 feet. Gigi
has them too.

He has an an
offset white star as if he moved
his head at the moment God
decided to paint his star on. I
always appreciate a good horse,
it does not matter to me what
breed they are. Occasionally
there will be one that causes a
lump in my throat, sometimes I
get tears in my eyes, but rarely
do I get that "struck by
lightening" feel. It happened
once before, the first time I
saw Sun's Top Gun, and it
happened again when I laid eyes
on this colt, named for his
grandsire Sun's Top Gun, and his
sire Easy Texas Cash. |
|
Easy Texas Cash, in
my opinion, is a horse with star
quality, a horse I would be proud to
own. He is by Hard Texas Cash, a WGC.
ET, as he is known in the barn, has all
the qualities I look for in a stallion,
perfect conformation, gait and a people
pleasing disposition. He is owned by
Dennis and Sharon Jones of Diana, TX.

I chose Easy Texas
Cash as the perfect stallion to breed my
treasured mare, Top Gun's Good Girl. I
believed her to be homozygous for the
tobiano gene, even though I have never
had her tested. She has "cat tracks" or
"ink spots" which the old timers told me
were indicative of the homozygous gene;
therefore I felt safe in breeding her to
a solid black walking horse stallion,
feeling fairly certain I would get a
black horse with some "chrome". I love
this colt's markings.

OMG's sire is 15.2
and his dam is 16.2. I feel certain this
colt will mature to somewhere in
between. He is eligible for registry
with the SSHBEA, NSSHA and RHBA. I am
also checking into the new National
Walking Horse Registry and hopefully
will have him registered with them. It
is my plan to show him at halter perhaps
as a weanling but for sure as a yearling
in the NWHA shows.

| This colt will be called
Top Gun's OMG. It makes me cry
just to write that, if you
haven't been there, please go to
the page called "Gallery of Memories" and you will
understand why. I did not think
I could ever call another horse
by that name but this one is so
much like him that there is no
other suitable name. He has the
elegant long neck, set high on
his withers, the powerful
shoulder, the noble head with
the alert bat-wing ears, strong
straight front legs with long
pasterns and a driving stride in
his hind quarters. |

In all honesty,
I have to admit that he got as many of
these qualities from Easy Texas Cash as
he did from his grandsire. One reason I
love ET is that he looks like Sun's Top
Gun but without the spots. He also has
the great "back end" that Hard Cash
horses are known for which Sun's Top Gun
lacked. When breeding horses, you look
for a complementing horse to breed to,
but you also look at your mares faults
and try to correct them. A knowledgeable
long time horse breeder told me "Always
breed up" never breed down or even
sideways....meaning you always strive to
improve the breed. So that is why I
chose to breed my mare to ET. He had
qualities that she lacked and I hoped
for a colt with all the good....usually
it ends up just being a hope and there
is no perfect horse....but I am having
trouble faulting this young colt, this
new Top Texas Gun. I will have to let
someone with more knowledge than myself
look at him and tell me his faults....I
am in love at this moment and as any one
knows who has ever been in love, you
just don't see faults at this stage.

I even told my
husband Jerry that I could stop breeding
horses now, that this horse that I had
been breeding for has been born. Of
course, I will keep on as long as God
gives me the means and ability to do it,
it is what I love....but I feel that
with this colt, I have accomplished what
I set out to do. As it says on the main
page, I'm doing what I love to do,
breeding these wonderful horses with the
vision in my mind of my first gaited
horse, Sun's Top Gun.
