Coffee Berry

Coffee Berry, who I sold last summer to a friend who needed a trustworthy trail horse, is a direct daughter of the late Sudden Sensation. She is the dam of my girls, who are my sentimental favorites because they are all full sisters, out of my beloved Sun's Top Gun.

Coffee Berry and Lils Copper-top

An interesting note about Coffee Berry. She was bought as a 2 yr. old by my dear friend Roy Hefner, now deceased. He raised walking horses here in North Texas for many years and was well known locally. Mary Ellen Areaux of Walkers West knew him well too....She said when she got one of his horses to sell, she would say they had been "hefnerized" ....meaning they were well behaved and parked out on command. The Hefners were the people who introduced me to gaited horses.

Anyway, back to Coffee Berry. She was unnamed when he bought her from Barry Coffey in Lewisburg, TN....thus her name Coffee Berry.

Mr Coffey was a well respected trainer and breeder in Tennessee who has also passed away. He won the Plantation Pleasure World Grand Championship but I don't know what year or what the name of his horse was. He was quite a character. I loved going to the sales with him because he could take one look at a colt and tell you what it's faults were and usually what it's breeding was. He said "Coffee Berry" was a nice mare and she is.
